I designed these spreads for Stanford University’s art history department, which published a small magazine featuring student’s research and writing. Academic content can be dense, so my focus with the magazine was to let the featured art breath as much as possible. A common trick I used was sampling colors from the artwork itself, which helped the spreads be minimal yet immersive. Between each piece is a poem in five parts, only resolving at the zine’s final acknowledgments.
